A cup of DEET, please, and a side order of methylbenzoic acid. Then let’s finish with a small helping of acyl chloride and diethylamine.

Welcome to the Chemical Stew Café. Oh, it’s not a real place, but a metaphor befitting the nasty chemicals residing in your traditional insect repellant.

Hmmm, this is the warning listed on one of the nation’s leading insect repellants. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to use something where I have to fumigate my clothes before wearing them again. Thankfully, Absolutely Natural has the solution. Our all natural insect repellant is an aloe base (actually good for your skin!) with essential oils. No cautions; no poison control warnings; just safe, effective results from nature’s insect control.

Our proprietary blend includes Lemon Eucalyptus, Citronella, Lemongrass, Lavender, Geranium, Bergamot, Clove Bud, Lemon, Tea Tree and Thyme. So, ditch the DEET and take that chemical stew off the menu.

Some of our ingredients:

  • LavenderThe smell of lavender essential oil is potent for many types of bugs like mosquitoes, midges, and moths. Apply some of the lavender oil on the exposed skin when outside to prevent these irritating bites. Furthermore, if you do happen to be bitten by one of those bugs, the lavender essential oil has anti-inflammatory qualities that will reduce the irritation and the pain associated with bug bites.
  • Citronella oil is a natural insect repellent, especially for mosquitoes. Tests have shown it to be as effective as the standard chemical used in repellents, DEET. However, those same tests indicate that it is an effective deterrent against insects.
  • Lemongrass. This grass-like plant smells wonderful and contains natural citronella oil.
  • Lemon eucalyptus or PMD showed a “remarkable ability” to repel mosquitoes when compared to DEET, the most popular synthetic commercial insect repellent today. DEET has been documented to cause serious adverse effects, especially in children.
