Mosquitoes be gone! Same for ticks, fleas, and flies.

A while back I decided we needed a refresh of our wildly popular insect repellant. Our super talented cosmetic chemist, Claudia Lawson, took up the challenge, and the result is a formula carefully curated from eight highly effective essential oils.

It is safe to use, gentle on the skin, and environmentally friendly.

Here is a rundown of the active ingredients:

Citronella Oil: Obtained from the leaves and stems of different species of Cymbopogon. It has been registered in the United States as an insect repellant since 1948. Oil of citronella is known as a biopesticide and completely non-toxic. Repels mosquitoes, flies, and other insects.

Lemongrass Oil: It is a tropical grassy plant extracted from the leaves and stalks. It has a powerful citrus scent and has been highly effective as a natural insect repellant. Repels fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, and other biting insects.

Geranium Oil: This essential oil is derived by steam distillation of the leaves of Pelargonium graveolens, a plant species native to South Africa. It has been used for years for some skin conditions but is highly effective as a natural insect repellant. Repels mosquitoes, flies and other insects.

Peppermint Oil: Made from the peppermint plant, Mentha Piperita, peppermint oil has been called the Holy Grail of natural insect repellants. It can help keep away ticks, fleas, spiders, roaches, moths, fleas, beetles, mosquitoes, and ants.

Rosemary Oil: Steam distilled from the leaves of Rosmarinus officinalis, Rosemary Oil has been clinically studied and found to have the longest repellent effect on Aedes Aegypti mosquitoes. Also repels black-legged ticks.

Clove Oil: Native to Southeast Asia, Clove Oil is made by distilling the dried flower buds collected from the Clove tree, known as Syzygium Aromaticum. Tests have shown that Clove Oil can provide protection from mosquitoes for up to 100 minutes. Also effective against other pests including armyworms, aphids, mites, fire ants, weevils, moths, and psyllids.

Cinnamon Oil: This powerful insect deterrent is extracted from the leaves and bark of cinnamon trees using various methods including steam distillation, hydro distillation, and ultrasonic extraction. This oil repels ants, mosquitoes and flies and studies show that Cinnamon Oil is more effective than DEET in repelling mosquitoes.

Thyme Oil: This oil is derived from distilling the fresh flowers aerial parts of Thymus Vulgaris. In one small study, Thyme Oil was found to be more effective than DEET at repelling fleas. Also, can protect against mosquitoes, lice and bed bugs.

As you can see, we go to the ends of the earth to procure the best, most powerful natural essential oils and Claudia did an amazing job with the formula.
