We’re entering the doldrums of winter and we have a great idea to brighten your mood as well as make your skin healthier than ever. It takes a little effort but the results are well worth it.

We want you to undertake a week, two weeks, three weeks or even a month long skin detoxification. Follow this routine and use the proper Absolutely Natural products and you will have smoother, healthier, brighter skin.

The skin is the body's largest organ, and it is constantly in contact with the elements. Pollutants and dirt from the environment can clog your pores, and toxins from your diet can cause your complexion to suffer. Detoxification may seem daunting, but a few small changes to your skincare routine can greatly improve the look and feel of your skin.

Step 1
Start a daily dry brushing routine. Brushing your body with a natural bristled brush when it is dry helps improve circulation and stimulates your lymphatic system to release toxins. Dry brushing also reduces puffiness and cellulite, improves muscle tone, sloughs of dull, dead skin cells, and encourages skin cell renewal. Use a natural body brush with firm bristles and preferably a long handle, and be mindful of these tips:

• Dry brushing is most effective first thing in the morning before you take a shower.
• Always brush in gentle, circular motions toward the heart.
• Begin the dry brushing at the soles of your feet and work your way up the legs, and then brush your hands and arms. Lastly, brush your buttocks, up the length of your back, and then around to the stomach area, which should be brushed in an anticlockwise direction.
• When you are finished brushing, rub detoxifying oil (we recommend the Absolutely Natural Organic Beauty Oil which is full of anti-oxidants) all over the body and let it sink in for 5 minutes before showering.

Step 2
Clean the skin daily with a detoxifying cleanser. Use Absolutely Natural’s Vitamin C cleanser on your face and one of our body washes or soaps for your body. It is important to cleanse the skin of impurities after your daily brushing routine. Avoid any harsh soaps, foaming cleansers, or coarse scrubs. Use a clean washcloth or pouf and some product to clean the skin on your face and body as you shower or bathe.

Step 3
Take a detoxifying bath 2 - 3 times per week. Soaking in a detoxifying bath a few times per week for 20 - 30 minutes can help clear pollutants from the pores of your skin.

Here’s a great recipe for the bath. Add 1 cup of Epsom salt, and 1to 2 ounces of Absolutely Natural’s Wild Crafted Kukui Nut oil to a hot bath. Soak and enjoy!

Step 4
Apply Absolutely Natural’s clay mask 1 - 2 times per week. The negative charge of natural clays helps to detoxify the skin by attracting the positive charge of the impurities and pulling them to the surface of your skin. You can apply the clay mask to your face only or all over your body, letting it dry for about 15 minutes before washing it off with a warm washcloth.

Step 5
Exfoliate once a week using AN’s Turbinado sugar for your body and our Pore Minimizing Scrub from our facial line

Apply products that fight damaging pollutants and skin damage. Help keep your detoxified skin clean and continue to fight damage from free radicals by using products every day that protect the skin.
